If You Were Detained Tomorrow, Who Could Act for You?

Many families are afraid right now, and that fear is real. You cannot control the news. You can decide, today, who is allowed to pay the rent, protect your home, and take care of your children if you cannot be there. We prepare the documents the same day, and you sign them with our notary.

If someone you love was just detained, do these three things today

Step one

Find out where they are. The ICE Online Detainee Locator at locator.ice.gov searches by A-number, or by name and country of birth. It can take a day or two to show a new arrival.

Step two

Get help for the immigration case from an immigration attorney or a representative accredited by the Department of Justice, never a notario. Free and low-cost providers are listed at justice.gov/eoir.

Step three

Call us at (818) 788-7881 about the home, the money, and the children. If a power of attorney exists, we help the agent use it. If not, we explain what can still be done.

What we prepare

Your family emergency documents

  • Durable power of attorney for finances. The person you choose can pay the bills, manage your accounts, and protect your property. You stay the owner of everything.
  • Medical authorization for your children. Lets the adult caring for your children approve their medical care.
  • Caregiver's Authorization Affidavit. The California form that lets your children's caregiver enroll them in school. We help you and the caregiver complete it.
  • Nomination of guardian. Tells a judge who you want to raise your children if a guardianship is ever needed.
  • Advance health care directive. Names someone to make medical decisions for you if you cannot.
  • Family emergency sheet. One page with schools, doctors, medications, accounts, and the numbers your family needs.
How it works

Three steps, one day

1

Tell us who needs documents

Fill out the form below or call. We ask a few questions about your family, your agent, and your children.

2

We prepare them the same day

Your documents are drafted the same day and emailed to you, in English or Spanish.

3

Sign with our notary

A power of attorney must be signed before a notary or two qualified witnesses. Our Woodland Hills office has a notary. Then give copies to your agent and your bank.

An estate planning firm that knows this community

MVP Law Group is led by Maria V. Primushko, Esq., an estate planning attorney in Woodland Hills with more than 15 years of experience. Our team serves families in English, Spanish, and Russian, and we prepare these documents for parents, grandparents, adult children, and anyone who wants their family protected.

We are not an immigration firm. We focus on what happens at home: who pays the bills, who protects the house, and who cares for the children. For the immigration case itself, we encourage every family to work with an immigration attorney.

Your questions

Honest answers

Will preparing these documents put me at risk?

A power of attorney does not ask for your immigration status. It is a private legal document, and your conversations with our attorney are confidential. It is not filed with any government agency when you sign it. It only becomes a public record if it is later recorded with the county, which usually happens only when an agent needs to sell or refinance real estate.

Do I need to be a U.S. citizen to sign?

No. In California, any adult who understands what they are signing can sign a power of attorney, whatever their immigration status.

What does the $100 flat fee include?

Emergency documents prepared the same day and emailed to you. When you call or fill out the form, we confirm exactly which documents your family needs before anything is prepared.

Can I change or cancel it later?

Yes. You can revoke or change it at any time while you are able to make your own decisions. Planning now does not lock you in.

Can someone sign immigration forms for me with it?

No. USCIS generally requires your own signature on your applications. The power of attorney covers your money, property, and household, not your immigration case.

Planning feels like expecting the worst. Should I wait?

A seatbelt is not a prediction of an accident. If you never need these documents, nothing changes. If you do, your family will know exactly what to do, and that it is what you wanted.
